Shopping on a Budget

A budget? Shopping? Yes it can be done. I got a blouse and skirt for less than $25. I put myself on a $25 a week allowance for clothing for myself. I also spend $100 a month on four kids by using layaway.

This past Friday  I was at JCPenney. I came across a clearance rack. On this rack I found a side zipper mini skirt. Original price was $36. It was on clearance for $8.99. I saved an additional 25% at the register, which bought the price down to $6.74. So with tax I paid $7.29. That was great.

The next store I went to was Rainbow. Now Rainbow is for the younger crowd, but if you know how to shop you can find items that you can put together for an age appropriate outfit. So I purchased this white with black block blouse for $6.99. Yes that was the original  price.

So I spent a total of $14.85 on two pieces. So with $10 and some change left, I can add that to next weeks $25, and maybe come home with some shoes. Luv & Blessins!!!

A Little Info About Breast Cancer

Breast exams are an essential part of every woman's preventative health care, especially African American women.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnoised cancer among African American women. The breast cancer death rate for women aged 45-64 years was 60% higher for Black women than White women because tumors are often found at a later, more advanced stage, and are larger. Black women under age 40 have a higher incidence of breast cancer than any other group.

Black women are three times more likely to develop triple negative breast cancer. Triple negative breast cancer ia an aggressive form of the disease that tends to grow and spread more quickly than most other types of breast cancer, and has fewer treatment options.

So ladies get tested. Luv & Blessins!!!

Fall Season Is Almost Here

Have you started getting ready for the fall season? So many beautiful things to put in your wardrobe this year. Have you cleaned out your closet yet?

What do I have?
What  do I need?
What do I want?

Those are the 3 questions you must ask yourself. You don't want to throw out everything and create an entirely new wardrobe. Just take stock and rethink your look. Go through everything that you think is worth keeping. Start thinking about what different things would look good together.

Once you've gone through it, and you've seen what you have and don't have, you can start shopping.  Do you have a L.B.D. ? Little black dress. It would look hot with some ankle boots. Pencil skirts are hot too.
Every closet should have some pumps, boots, flats, and tennis shoes. Lane Bryant has a sexy Leopard print skirt for $54.95... to me thats pricey. But check out discount stores like Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Burlington Coat Factory. They have nice stuff, for less than department stores.

Accessories are needed to make an outfit pop. Me personally, I make my own jewelry. But I like Betsy Johnson. She is very inspiring, and her pieces are very unique.

So find your style, and have fun. Luv & Blessins!!!

Staying Healthy

Did you know, that the greatest increase in abdominal fat occurs between the ages of 20 and 29?

Did you know that 12% of Black women age 20 and over have diabetes?

Did you know that diabetes leaves Black women vulnerable to high cholesterol, and high blood pressure?

But this can change if you get up and exercise, and tweak what you eat. Get in at least 30 minutes of exercising. It can be cardio, dancing, weight lifting, or walking. Make smarter food choices. Eat fresh fruit instead of drinking fruit juices. Veggies ladies, veggies!!! Luv & Blessins!!"

Couponing

I've never really been a fan of extreme couponing, but just using the coupons of the products I use, yes. You won't catch me dumpster diving or anything like that. I realize that you have to pay close attention to the expiration dates, and fine print.

I want to learn how to really come out cheap on the products my family and I use daily. Do you have to go to several different stores to catch great deals with your coupons or what? I have plenty of Febreeze, Swiffer, Secret, Dawn, Always, and Tide Coupons. Is it best to stock up when I have several of the same product coupons with different savings?

Any way, I want to see how much I can save for the month of Aug. I'm going to schedule a household item shopping day on one of my days off from work. I will make a list of the items we need. I will only purchase the items I have coupons for. I will keep you posted on my coupon journey. If you have any suggestions for me please leave a comment. Luv & Blessins!!!
